Diet Again ! ? ! What REALLY Works?

I'm taking another diet plunge - nothing really hard core, but I have put on a few pounds that aren’t making me happy.  What works?

I hear about the HCG diet – eat 500 calories a day and take pregnancy hormones.  Hmmm…
Or the Slow Carb Diet – no carbs six days a week with one all you can eat free day.  I like the free day!  :-)

Or the low fat/low cal count everything diet - works, but ugh!
Or Sensa – anyone tried this?  It seems to be all the rage lately, but I don't know anyone really using it to know if it's worth the investment.

I just don’t know what works.  Frankly, I won’t stick to it, but if I can get my weight manageable and reduce hunger, then maybe I can keep a few of these pounds off.
What works for you?

  1. I'm right there with you, April. Exercise has been nil (and it seems I have to do that to maintain a healthy weight), and it's 3 steps forward, 4 steps back with the calorie counting.

I'm starting my Monday with a protein shake, but might have to eat out the rest of the day! Subway, here I come! LOL

  2. I must say - I do SO envy those people blessed with a fast metabolism. I'm going to start my mornings with protein too. I know if I start the day with carbs I graze all day long. Good luck! Subway is my diet fav too! :-)

  3. Of all the people I've personally known who have dieted and kept the weight off, Weight Watchers seems to be the program that has been the most successful.

  4. Bonita - I have to agree with you on that. Weight Watchers does seem to have the best track record of people I know as well. I don't know about weighing in front of people though... URgh! :-)

  5. The weigh-ins at Weight Watchers are completely discreet. The scale is shielded and all others hear (if they were even listening, which they usually aren't since they are all talking their bladders into giving up just one more quarter-pound before the scale...) is how much your weight changed for the week.

  6. Check out the film "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" - not that I am saying you are any of those things (free on Netflix or Hulu)

  8. Sweety, you know I love doing things with you, but if you lose weight, you'll blow away in a strong wind. lol. I do need help with running, though. Your my go-to gal on that one! Love you!

  10. Recently what has worked for me is going on a gluten-free trail diet and also removing white sugar and processed foods from my diet. I have lost about 4 pounds in three weeks. Me and my daughter take a jazzercise class three times a week too.
    Blessings

  11. Diane - I really think white sugar, white flour is the key, but willpower is a difficult task master. Congrats on your four pounds - that's awesome!
