Wordless Wednesday - Giant Leaves

We have an area by our house that stays too wet for most plants, but the elephant ears love it.  These babies make those stories of Frog and Toad floating down the river on a leaf believable.  We actually have three sets.  They are huge!

  3. So beautiful! I love big leaves, as I grew up in the tropics. Is that your plant? Any chance you think I could grow a plant like that in Texas?

  4. Hi Ang,

I don't know about Texas. Is it very humid or wet in your area? We are very humid, but often dry. The only reason these are doing so well is that they are in area where a downspout pours water and there is very little drainage. They love the water. It's been drier here these past few weeks, though, and, as you can see, they are thriving. I planted them as bulbs. They get bigger and more plentiful each year.

  7. Thanks, April. Hmmmmm from a bulb? Gulp, I have a black thumb--it would probably die within minutes of my TLC, ha! You never know, I may be brave enough one day to try planting from a bulb! In any case, I love plants like these--they look so fresh and happy!

  8. Ang, I have a brown thumb too! I love bulbs, they come back each year! I stick them in the ground and if they grow, they grow. If not, oh well... No TLC here. :-)
