Goal – (Revised) Run in a 5K
Pounds Lost (Week 12) – Stopped checking, although, my arms are slimmer. Interesting...How it Went This Week:
This week has actually been great! I decided it was time to really really commit to TKD. They have a demo team that my son has been on. Their new season is starting and I'm joining in. The Master at our dojang is inspirational. He has big plans for the demo team and wants adults as part of the process. He wants full committment - this has to be a priority if you want to do it. I'm in!
What I've been really thrilled about this week is how much the Couch to 5K running is impacting my TKD workouts. I have so much more stamina, and my cardio is a lot better. I'm starting on Week 4 of the C25K program. Yes, it's already been longer than four weeks, but I'm not pushing it. When I feel like I'm really doing well with the schedule for a given week, then I move on. Even if it takes me two weeks to get there. No rush. Like I said, I have the time, and when I run my first 5K, I'm going to be confident from start to finish.
So - in terms of physical fitness - run 2 to 3 times per week. TKD classes 2 to 3 times per week, and a two hour demo practice weekly.
What’s my Plan for next Week:
You may not remember my desire to memorize all of the poomse's for TKD. Each belt level has a new poomse (this is a combination of kicks, stances and strikes) that make up a 10 to 20 step pattern.
This week, I'll have the first six fully memorized. I already have five down pretty well. I memorized two on Friday. Once they are fully memorized, then I can work on improving the actions themselves.
In addition, I'll do Week 4 of Couch to 5K at least twice (Monday and Wednesday).
Memorizing my combos and doing my running will be a great advantage for TKD this week. We also hope to test for Blue Belt on Saturday. Youngest and I have already received permission, we are just waiting on my older son to get his permission. He's a little behind because of his broken foot.
It feels good to dedicate myself to something that improves my physical and mental well-being, plus, it's fun!!!
What are you doing to improve your health that also makes you happy?
Well done on the fitness front. I'm so unfit I don't even know where to start! Good luck with the blue belt, fingers crossed for you and your boys.
